"Drawing with the right side of the Brain"

Self portrait by Paul Walker. The course starts with recording the skills with the drawer.
His portrait is very alike and he has paid great attention to shadows. Although Paul is quite an advanced drawer, the very light pencil lines show he is meticulous, careful and a bit insecure. This is in contrast with the self assurance in the signature.

Studies of the negative space. This is a quite hard exercise which forbids the drawer to draw the actual chair, but only the space around it. Paul completed this exercise with a excellent result.

The basic unit and calculating corners. This is a simple corner of a room, the meeting point of the wall with the ceiling above a door. Most of the exercise is spent looking and measuring the angles rather than drawing.
